When We Were Still Children

When we were still children.
When you were a boy, and I was a girl.
When we knew nothing, and we knew everything.
When we played really hard, and laughed out laud.
When we walked along that seashore.
Along that seashore, as if it's not gonna end.
And there came the sunset, the last ray of sunshine,
sprinkled so beautifully and so splendidly on us.
And we were silent.

Then we began to run, run like the wind gone wild.
We thought we were running to eternity.
And we began to grow, as the sand got into our shoes,
And eyes.
Our shadows grew longer, and we taller.

And suddenly one day you stopped, turned to me,
and smiled.
It's been so lovely to have you beside me.
Even since we were so young, for so long...
